Traffic Alert

Student drop-off - although we encourage your child to walk to school, parents who transport their children should drop them off on the school side of Burnet Street or Maple Avenue before 8:12 a.m. Do not drop your child off on the opposite side of the street from the school. This is especially dangerous for your child. Police will patrol the streets surrounding the school each morning.  Illegally parked cars and those making illegal "U" turns will be issued tickets.  Do not park in or block faculty parking on the school side of Maple Avenue.  A police crossing guard will be on duty at the intersections of Baker and Burnett streets and at Dunnell Road and Baker Street to assist students in crossing.  Since you will be competing with rush hour and Maplewood Train Station traffic, please allow ample time to arrive at school before the late bell rings.

Reminder....... Students must not arrive at MMS prior to 8 a.m. as there is no adult supervision available to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our children.  However, it is important that children arrive to school on time.  Please develop appropriate plans to enable your child to arrive no later than 8:12 a.m.

Student pick-up
- Although we encourage your child to walk home from school, parents who pick up their children should do so on Burnet Street in front of the school before 3:15 p.m.  All students will be dismissed daily at 2:45 p.m.  Upon dismissal, students are not to congregate either on school grounds, at the public library or in Maplewood Village.  If students are not in the building under supervision of a staff member, they are to go immediately home.  From 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., teachers and staff are available to students for extra help.  Your child may also be detained at this time for a conference about his/her behavior.
