SEPAC stands for Special Education Parent Advisory Committee. Special Education Parent Advisory Groups are required for all school districts in New Jersey. The purpose of these groups is to provide opportunities for parents and community members to offer input to their district’s special education programs.

New Jersey Administrative Code 6A:14--1.2(h) states that:  Each board of education shall ensure that a special education parent advisory group is in place in the district to provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities.

Anyone with student or students with learning needs or anyone with a student or students eligible for or receiving services under an IEP or 504 plan is welcome to attend.
The South Orange Maplewood Special Education Parent Teacher Organization (SPED-PTO) works to make a difference in the lives of all children with special needs.    Webpage on the district site with contacts

The SPED-PTO holds several meetings throughout the year to help parents network with other parents, share information about special education issues and educational concerns, and understand changing special education laws. Membership is free.

Meetings are held in the Board of Education meeting room at 525 Academy Street, Maplewood, and begin at 7:30pm and end at 9pm.

Scheduled meetings for the 2013-2014 school year are:
