MMS - HSA Gardening Program
The MMS Garden
sponsored by your MMS-HSA
Imagine a school garden filled with fruit and vegetable beds, butterfly gardens, an outdoor laboratory for exploration, a meeting area for classes and events, and plenty of hands-on activities in the fresh air—this is our vision for a garden at Maplewood Middle School.
The 6th grade Language and Literature class begins the school year reading a novel called Seedfolks by Paul Fleishman. In this text, people from all walks of life come together through the development of a community garden. This text has become the inspiration for the development of a community garden at Maplewood Middle School. Your new MMS-HSA sponsored garden is likewise bringing together a wide range of our own community – MMS teachers, MMS students, MMS parents, future MMS parents, MMS administration, MMS neighbors, Youth Net, The Hub program, and more.
We believe that the garden will create an environment that is healthy, sustainable and inspiring. We need your support to make this a success. Please join us in making this vision happen. We plan to start building our garden on MAY 22 at 2 pm.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
A huge THANK YOU to our MMS teachers and administrators, especially Ms. Silva & Mr. Gold, who birthed this idea and to all the volunteers who are making it happen. We appreciate your creative vision and hard work.
