Lots of fun to be had this week and next leading up to the holidays (please read below for all the info on the parties and concerts and events).
Also lots of serious work going on (please see Ms. Gronau’s Principal’s Letter for a review of some of the very important work she’s been doing for our school). MMS needs the help of the parent community in order to make our school the priority it needs to be in the school district’s budget. Are you concerned about class sizes at MMS? The physical state of the building? The lack of adequate technology? Now is the time for your voice to be heard! Please take just a few minutes of your time and email Dr. Ramos via Let’s Talk to advocate for the many needs our school has. If you’ve ever had a budget-related complaint or concern about our school, now’s your chance to air it and be heard. Please reach out to Alan & Kathleen if you have any questions on this, and thank you so much for your assistance with these efforts. And now onto the fun stuff ...
MMS TRIVIA NIGHT: Have you formed your teams yet? Selected a team name? Purchased your tickets? Don’t miss the biggest MMS fundraiser of the year! MMS Trivia Night is Friday, February 3rd at the Woodland and it’s going to be a blast! Click HERE for all the info and HERE to purchase tickets. Seats are limited, and this event is always sold out, so reserve your seat/table today!
MMS WINTER CHORAL CONCERT: The MMS Winter Choral Concert is Monday, December 12th at 7pm in the MMS Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the entire MMS choral department. The uniform for the event is a black bottom and a white top. Chorus members must report to the auditorium at 6:30pm. There is no charge for this event but donations will be accepted to support the music department at MMS. Your HSA will also be selling MMS car magnets (these new magnets actually stick!) for $5 each.
CHS WINTER CHORAL FESTIVAL: The CHS Winter Choral Festival is Wednesday, December 14th at 7pm in the CHS auditorium. The MMS 7th & 8th grade Select Chorus will also perform at this event. All performers must arrive at the CHS auditorium at 5:30pm wearing black & white.
HSA STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCHEON: Luncheon chairs extraordinaire Bridget Brown and Chrissy Hummel are at it again! Your HSA is hosting a fabulous luncheon on Monday, December 19th in honor of our amazing MMS staff and we need your help! Please click HERE for the Sign Up Genius to see how you can contribute time, food, or funds and help make this event a success. Let’s show our staff some love!
PIE IN THE FACE: What’s better than an opportunity to “pie” a teacher or administrator while also raising funds to help St. Jude’s? Pretty much nothing! Please encourage your kids to purchase a pie and participate in this fun event sponsored by the MMS Make Life Kinder Club. “Pie-ing” happens on Thursday, December 22nd right after school in the cafeteria. The cost of a pie is a $5 donation to St. Jude’s. All donations should be handed to Ms. Miller in room 156 and the last day to purchase a pie is Tuesday, December 20th. Check out the list of teachers participating HERE.
PLEASE PARTICIPATE IN BATTLE OF THE CLASSES: Student Council sponsors different ways for kids to get involved and give back this time of year, and these initiatives need a little love and attention! Please encourage your students to participate in Penny Wars, the Food Drive, and Box Tops. Any questions? Ask Ms. O’Sullivan at email@example.com.
BATTLE T-SHIRTS: Speaking of the Battle (which will take place on Friday, December 23rd), your HSA has the kids’ grade level tshirts all set and ready to go! Shirts will be sold the week of December 19th during lunch period. Can you help with the sale? (It’s fun to see what goes on at lunchtime!) Click HERE for the Sign Up Genius to volunteer a small bit of time.
