SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK: Monday is the last full day of school for all students. Tuesday and Wednesday are 4-hour days (12:30pm dismissal), and Wednesday is the last day for 6th & 7th graders. 8th graders move up (!) on Thursday.
HELP WITH 8th GRADE MOVING UP: The most important part of this week, of course, is our Moving Up ceremony for our 8th grade class on THURSDAY, JUNE 22nd. We need the help of 6th and 7th grade families to make it a special event for our graduates & their families! 8th GRADE DINNER DANCE: Big week for the 8th graders -- two days before Moving Up they have their dinner dance on TUESDAY, JUNE 20th from 6:30pm-9:30pm at the Maplewood Country Club. Please click HERE for an important letter from the school regarding the event and HERE for the permission slip.
SELLING TICKETS TO THE 8th GRADE DINNER DANCE: Please click HERE to sign up to help sell tickets to the 8th grade dinner dance during the 8th grade lunch period. Thank you for your help!
REMINDER REGARDING ATTENDANCE ON JUNE 20th: 8th grade families, please see the following message from the 8th grade team leaders: “The 8th Grade Dinner Dance, the evening of June 20th, will be a very exciting event. We wish to see all children there. In order to attend the party, students must be in school the entire day. In the event that MMS students are attending their sibling's move up ceremony at another school, please email a team leader or administrator with details in order for your child to be excused for the ceremony. Students are permitted to wear head coverings in order to preserve hair styles that day. This is a 12:30 dismissal school day."
YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION: Yearbooks will be distributed in Room 283 after school on MONDAY, JUNE 19th for 7th & 8th graders and on TUESDAY, JUNE 20th for 6th graders. There are a limited number of extra copies available if your student didn’t pre-order and they will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Students must have $30 cash with them if they have not pre-ordered.
6th GRADE FIELD DAY: 6th graders have field day on TUESDAY, JUNE 20th. Bring your own equipment!
6th AND 7th GRADE POOL PARTIES: 7th grade goes to the Maplewood Pool on TUESDAY, JUNE 20th and 6th grade goes on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21st. Dismissal both days is 12:30pm directly from the pool and kids may walk home or get a ride. Carpooling is encouraged as the parking lot can fill up quickly.
A MESSAGE RE: BAND AND ORCHESTRA INSTRUMENTS: Dear Parents, Thank you so much for a great year of music-making at MMS! As the year draws to a close, we are asking that students bring their personal instruments home from the band and orchestra rooms. Mr. Balas and Ms. Chilimintris are available after school until 3:15pm on MONDAY, JUNE 19th for students to come and pick up instruments. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Balas or Ms. Chlimintris.
MMS GARDEN: Our MMS garden needs a little love over the summer months. If you are available at any time to stop by and water it please reach out to Cathy Rowe at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SCHOOL STORE: MMS is buzzing with students over the summer which means we’re still in the business of providing snacks and waters for our most food insecure students. If you’re interested in helping with this effort over the summer please reach out to Kathleen & Alan. Thank you so much.
INFO FOR OUR 8th GRADERS RE: FALL SPORTS AT CHS: The CHS Athletic Department is collecting physicals for fall sports now Students must have a current physical examination approved by the school's physician and on file in the nurse's office before the student is authorized to participate in practice/tryouts. NEW THIS YEAR - You can register online by clicking here. If you register online, you still need to submit a hard copy of the 4 page "Preparticipation Physical Form” to the Athletic Department, found here. (If you do not wish to register online, click here to print out all the required forms.) If you have any questions, please contact Vanessa Carney, Athletic Trainer, at email@example.com. For students to plan to run Cross Country -- Captains' practices and individual training begin this month and official practices begin August 21st.
