Hello MMS Families!
We hope that your children had a great first couple of days of school! Thanks so much to our amazing parents, staff and volunteers who ensured that our kids had a smooth and exciting welcome to MMS!!

A reminder that there is NO SCHOOL Monday or Tuesday September 10 & 11 in observance of Rosh Hashanah.
A Few Key Dates:
Rosh Hashanah – District Closed
There will be no school on Monday and Tuesday September 10 & 11.
MMS HSA Meeting
Wednesday, September 12 at 7:30 in the Library Media Center
Back to School Night
Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 13 from 6:45pm – 9 pm for Back to School Night! A welcome will take place in the auditorium. Please take the opportunity to see what a day in the life of your middle schooler is like! See the classrooms, meet the teachers and principal, and much more! A reminder that this is a 4-hour day; students will be dismissed at 12:30.
Special Ed/504 Families Meet and Greet
There will be a Meet and Greet with Principal Gronau for families of students with IEPs and 504s on Thursday, September 13th from 6:15 - 6:45pm, prior to the Back to School Night. For more information, or to volunteer to help with the event, contact Special Ed Liaison Kiersten Carlson-Williams at lissenden@verizon.net.
White Envelopes/Emergency Forms
The first day of school your students received a white envelope. Please complete and return all emergency forms to the school. There is a lot of great info in there from your HSA as well including our welcome letter here. Also included was our No-Frills Fundraiser flyer here. Thank you!
YouthNet at MMS
Youth Net offers an Extended Enrichment Program for all MMS students. The program runs until 6 pm and follows the school calendar. MMS teachers offer individual homework help to students enrolled. Click here for more information or visit www.somayouthnet.org for more information. No child is denied due to financial reasons.
More info on YouthNet’s after school club program will also be available at Back to School night. These offerings begin first week of October.
Achieve Newstead 5k
The 15th annual Achieve Newstead 5K is on Saturday, September 15. The race starts at 9 am at the South Mountain School Annex at 112 Glenview Road in South Orange. Please click here for more information.
